Terms of Service

Last updated: 17 June 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of TripOmeter — the website, app, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using TripOmeter you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. What TripOmeter is

TripOmeter is a trip-planning tool for weekend trips in and around Maharashtra. We help you discover destinations, plan dates, vote with your group, build a shared itinerary, split expenses, and coordinate in real time during a trip. We are not a travel agent, a booking platform, or a payment processor — see "Bookings & payments" below.

2. Who can use TripOmeter

  • You must be able to form a legally binding agreement to use the Service.
  • TripOmeter is not intended for children under 18. If you're under 18, please use TripOmeter only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian, who should review these Terms on your behalf.
  • We don't knowingly collect payment information from minors, and we don't process payments at all (see below).
  • You're responsible for ensuring your use of the Service complies with applicable local laws, including age-of-use restrictions where you live.

3. Your account

You sign in with email — either a one-time passcode (OTP) sent to your inbox, or a password/PIN you set. To keep your account and your group's trip data secure:

  • Don't share your OTP, password, or PIN with anyone.
  • Don't share your sign-in link or session with others — invite them to your group instead, using the group's own invite link.
  • Keep your email account secure, since it's the recovery path into TripOmeter.
  • Tell us at support@tripometer.in if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
  • You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account, and for the accuracy of the trip, group, and profile data you enter.

4. Acceptable use

TripOmeter includes group chat, polls, and a shared itinerary that your group can see and edit — so a few ground rules apply to keep it usable for everyone. When using the Service, you agree not to:

  • Post spam, scams, or unsolicited commercial content in group chat or polls.
  • Harass, threaten, abuse, or impersonate any other user or person.
  • Post illegal content, or content that infringes someone else's rights (copyright, privacy, etc.).
  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract TripOmeter's destination data, itineraries, or other content without our written permission.
  • Attempt to access another user's account, group, or trip data without authorization.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service (e.g. attempting to overload our servers, bypassing rate limits, reverse-engineering the app).
  • Use the Service to plan or facilitate anything unlawful.

5. Your content

Chat messages, polls, itinerary edits, expense entries, and anything else you or your group post or create in TripOmeter ("User Content") remains yours. By posting User Content, you grant TripOmeter a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and the group members you've shared it with (for example, showing your chat history to everyone in the group, or rendering your itinerary on the trip page).

You're solely responsible for the User Content you post and for having the right to post it. We don't pre-screen chat messages or polls, but we may review, remove, or restrict access to User Content that violates these Terms — including reports from other members about abusive or inappropriate chat content (see Contact for how to report it).

6. Suspension & removal

We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us or other users, or are abusive toward other members. Where practical, we'll try to let you know why — but in cases of serious abuse, illegal content, or security risk we may act immediately without prior notice.

7. Bookings & payments

TripOmeter does not process payments and does not handle bookings. We link out to third-party booking sites — for example, popular hotel, rail, bus, or activity platforms such as Booking.com, MakeMyTrip, IRCTC, and RedBus — for stays, transport, and activities. When you click through and book on one of these sites, that transaction is solely between you and the third party, under their own terms, pricing, and cancellation/refund policy. TripOmeter is not a party to that booking and has no ability to modify, cancel, or refund it. See our Cancellation & Refund Policy for more detail.

Some of these links may be affiliate links: where such a partnership is in place, TripOmeter may earn a commission if you book through them. The price you pay is unaffected, and this never changes which destinations or options we recommend — our destination content is editorially independent of any commercial relationships.

8. Intellectual property

TripOmeter's branding, design, software, and our hand-curated destination content (itineraries, tips, summaries, fee data, and the editorial judgment behind them) are owned by TripOmeter and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may use them to plan your own trips; you may not copy, scrape, republish, or build a competing product from our destination content or app without our written permission.

9. Information accuracy

We work hard to keep destination details, prices, hours, and other data accurate, but information changes — entry fees go up, opening hours shift, routes get diverted. Always verify critical details directly with the venue or provider before relying on them. TripOmeter is not liable for outdated or incorrect information, or for decisions made based on it.

10. Service availability & changes

We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee uninterrupted access. We may add, change, or discontinue features (including parts of the Service you rely on), with reasonable notice where practical, to improve the product, respond to misuse, or for operational or legal reasons.

11. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that destination data, weather, or pricing information will always be current.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TripOmeter is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for trip mishaps, third-party booking issues, or losses arising from your use of the Service or reliance on its content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (which for most users is ₹0, since core planning features are free).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold TripOmeter harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your User Content, or your misuse of the Service.

14. Termination

You may stop using TripOmeter and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for violating these Terms, on reasonable notice where practical. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, dispute resolution) will continue to apply.

15. Dispute resolution

If a dispute arises, please contact us first at support@tripometer.in so we can try to resolve it informally. If we can't resolve it within 30 days, the dispute will be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, with a sole arbitrator appointed by mutual agreement. The seat and venue of arbitration will be Mumbai, India, and proceedings will be conducted in English.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to the arbitration agreement above, the courts in Mumbai have exclusive jurisdiction over any matters not subject to arbitration.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or legal requirements. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and for material changes we'll make reasonable efforts to notify you (e.g. in-app notice or email). Continuing to use TripOmeter after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

18. Severability

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest will remain in full effect, and the unenforceable part will be interpreted to best reflect its original intent within the limits of the law.
