Daman

Daman & Diu (UT) · 3h drive · 3.9

Daman is the closest Portuguese-heritage coastal town to Mumbai (170 km) — twin 17th-century forts (Moti Daman, Nani Daman) bookending the Damanganga river, colonial churches, and licensed liquor making it a popular weekend escape. Beaches are not the prettiest on the Konkan coast, but the combination of heritage, cheap drinks, and seafood draws steady crowds. Best paired with Silvassa for a 2-day UT trip.
