A Sahyadri valley with Maharashtra's highest peak (Kalsubai, 1646 m), Arthur Lake glittering around Wilson Dam, cascading Randha Falls, and the magical Amruteshwar Temple. The firefly season (late May–June) draws lakeside campers from all over Maharashtra. 165 km from Mumbai, this is the most complete nature destination in the northern Sahyadri.
Best time to visit
Magical in the monsoon (Jul–Sep) for Randha Falls, Umbrella Falls and June-fireflies; winters are calm and clear over Arthur Lake. The big peaks (Kalsubai, Harishchandragad, Ratangad) are full-day treks — pick one per day.
